TORONTO, ON — Tonbara Sports and Entertainment is proud to announce the signing of Ottawa Gee-Gees guard Alec Phaneuf to professional representation. The Gatineau, QC native joins Tonbara’s elite basketball roster as he transitions from a decorated university career to the professional ranks.
Phaneuf, a 5'10" floor general, concludes his fifth year of U Sports eligibility as one of the most efficient and composed playmakers in the country. During the 2025-26 OUA campaign, Phaneuf anchored the Gee-Gees backcourt with a versatile stat line: 13.6 PPG, 3.8 APG, and 3.0 RPG.
Scouts have particularly noted Phaneuf’s shooting splits, which highlight his professional readiness. He shot an impressive 46.7% from the field, 37.5% from beyond the arc, and a clinical 84.2% from the free-throw line. His ability to manage games under pressure and his reputation as a "clutch" performer make him one of the most intriguing guard prospects in the Canadian university circuit this year.
"Alec represents the high-IQ, high-character athlete that Tonbara is built on," said Deion Adams, VP of Basketball at Tonbara Sports and Entertainment. "His efficiency numbers are among the best for any lead guard in the OUA. We are excited to guide him through this next chapter and secure the professional opportunities that reflect his talent and work ethic."
Tonbara will oversee all aspects of Phaneuf’s professional career, including contract negotiations, brand management, and commercial partnerships across North American and international markets.
