Tonbara Sports & Entertainment Signs American Defender Austin Yowell
All-ASUN and All-Region defender currently playing in Germany's Bremenliga
TORONTO / MIAMI / NEW YORK — Tonbara Sports & Entertainment is pleased to announce the signing of Austin Yowell, a defender currently playing for SV Werder Bremen III in Germany's Bremenliga.
Yowell, a 6'3" defender, is pursuing his professional career in Germany after an outstanding five-year NCAA career. In his final collegiate season at Bellarmine, he earned Second-Team All-Atlantic Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches and was named First-Team All-ASUN.
Yowell led his team in minutes with 1,359 and in assists with four, while ranking second in points. His free-kick goal in the 89th minute against Stetson sent the Knights to the ASUN Championship for the fifth consecutive season.
Before Bellarmine, Yowell played three collegiate seasons at Belmont University, appearing in 26 games and playing at centre back, forward, left back and right back. He also earned Dean's List and ASUN Academic Honor Roll recognition, and graduated with a degree in Business Administration.
A product of the Phoenix Rising FC Academy and Notre Dame Preparatory in Scottsdale, Arizona, Yowell was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Winter All-American Watch List during his high school career. He earned Region Defensive Player of the Year and Team MVP honours, was named an AllState All-American, and served as captain for both his high school and academy teams.
