Tonbara Sports & Entertainment Signs Houston Christian Forward Trent Johnson

Canadian sharpshooter and 3-Point Championship watch list nominee joins the basketball division.

TORONTO / MIAMI / NEW YORK — Tonbara Sports & Entertainment is pleased to announce the signing of Trent Johnson, a forward finishing his final season at Houston Christian University.

A 6'6" native of Cambridge, Ontario, Johnson currently averages 8.5 points per game for the Huskies while shooting 42.6% from three-point range. He was recently named to the E*TRADE Men's 3-Point Championship "watch list" as part of the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships, recognising his elite shooting ability at the Division I level.

In 2024-25, Johnson participated in 30 games with 28 starts, averaging 27.5 minutes per game and achieving his single-season career highs in points. He has continued that trend this season, setting and surpassing his career-high in scoring three times, including a 19-point game against East Texas A&M.

Johnson's journey to Division I basketball started at Rise Academy and St. Benedict's Cambridge before a prep season at Toronto Basketball Academy. He then played two seasons at Midland College, where he averaged 10.5 points and 5.5 rebounds as a sophomore, starting all 30 games and helping lead the Chaps to a 28-7 record and a spot in the 2023 NJCAA National Tournament.
